What are drawknives for?
A drawing knife is a tool for woodworking. It consists of a single-edged blade with handles at both ends, which are used to pull the knife over the workpiece. Drawing knives are used for debarking branches and trunks, for processing beams and also by sculptors or bow makers for rough shaping.
What are cabinet scraper blades and scraper files used for?
A cabinet scraper blade is used to smooth the surface of wood. It works like a planer by cutting off protruding wood fibres. It is used for smoothing and surface treatment as well as for external shaping.
With a special scraper file, a burr is drawn on an edge which is sharp enough to remove wood very fine and smooth. Once the burr has become blunt, a new one can be applied with a scraper file.
